Pacific Grove Tourist Information Centers Stand Alone in Service and Excellence
The COVID-19 Pandemic brought previously unfathomable disruption to the hospitality industry at home and abroad. With travel brought to a standstill, many hotels and restaurants closed their doors, some never to re-open. But when the Pacific Grove Chamber of Commerce re-opened their Tourist Information Center near Cannery Row on June 15, the mood was one of jubilation and optimism. The Center now stands as the last remaining staffed visitor information center on the Monterey Peninsula.
The Pacific Grove Chamber of Commerce operates not one but two tourist information centers for visitors, serving hundreds of people per month and thousands every year.
One sits a block from Pacific Grove’s historic downtown with aroundthe-corner access to the coastline. With proximity to activities, shopping and restaurants in the downtown area, the Tourist Information Center has been directing visitors and serving businesses for 116 years. This is the hub downtown tourist-serving activities and the office through which the Chamber and two centers are administered. Here visitors will find walking maps, current information on hotel availability, attractions, Pacific Grove postcards and expert guidance on things to do in town. The center is also a resource for newspapers and other local publications
The Tourist Information Center at 100 Central Avenue is a wealth of information and resources for travelers looking for more of what the Monterey Peninsula has to offer. Information on a wealth of Pacific Grove businesses and attractions abound and the center has something for everyone on every business in the Chamber’s membership. Staffed seven days a week, the Tourist Information Center always has someone on hand to direct visitors to their destination and other points of interest.
The Pacific Grove Chamber of Commerce operates both centers as a service to locals and visitors and to conduct referrals to local businesses, whose membership partially funds the operation of the downtown center.
The Pacific Grove Tourist Information Center downtown is located at 584 Central Avenue and is open from Monday to Friday, 9:30a.m. – 5:00p.m. and the Tourist Information Center at 100 Central Avenue is open seven days a week from 10:00a.m.-5:00p.m. For more information, contact the Chamber at (831) 3733304.
