Vote no on B

-

I have lived in Del Rey Oaks for over 30 years and I am writing in support of No on Measure B because I look forward to the FORTAG pedestrian and bike trail.

Indeed, the Frog Pond is a beautiful respite in the middle of suburbia. With the creation of FORTAG we will not lose the Frog Pond, nor will it be put at risk and need to be saved, as the trail will not ruin it. Instead, it will continue to be a fine park, one that allows access to those unable to enjoy it because of disabilities.

Additionally, an attractive path through Work Memorial Park will be an asset to our city.

I'm a Seaside resident for many years. My wife and I not only frequent the Frog Pond but also the many trails of

Fort Ord with our little dog. They are both treasured resources. We are thrilled about the development of the rec trail proposed by FORTAG and what it will mean to the residents of the Peninsula. A handful of Del Rey Oaks residents are spooked by this, despite the many attempts to allay their concerns. Whatever funding that has already been secured will be spooked as well with a “Yes on B”, this being the first leg of a larger enterprise, and ruin a fantastic opportunity for ALL of us who enjoy outdoor space in our community.

I would love to be able to go to the frog pond in my wheelchair. These trails would be a huge asset to the Peninsula and would help our traffic issue. Del Rey Oaks residents, please vote No on B and help make the Frog Pond accessible to everyone!
