Notre Dame demolishes Oregon State in Sun Bowl
Steve Angeli passed for 232 yards and three touchdowns, guiding No. 15 Notre Dame to a 40-8 victory over No. 21 Oregon State in the Sun Bowl on Friday.
Angeli went 15 for 19 and tossed TD passes of 8 yards to Jayden Thomas, 13 yards to Jordan Faison and 13 yards to Jeremiyah Love. The sophomore was making his first start for the Irish (10-3) in place of Sam Hartman, one of many players who opted out of the game.
Jadarian Price of Notre Dame rushed for 106 yards on 13 carries with a touchdown.
Notre Dame had seven players – all starters – opt out of the game. That included Hartman and standout running back Audric Estime.
Oregon State (8-5), which finished the season on a three-game losing streak, had three starters opt out and four others enter the transfer portal — including starting quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei and backup Aidan Chiles.
CLEMSON RALLIES PAST KENTUCKY IN GATOR BOWL >> Phil Mafah ran for four touchdowns, including a 3-yarder with 17 seconds to play, and Clemson beat Kentucky 38-35 in a wild Gator Bowl to finish the year on a five-game winning streak.
Mafah scored three times in a back-and-forth final quarter that saw five turnovers, four touchdowns and five lead changes. Clemson (9-4) outscored Kentucky (7-6) 28-14 over the last 15 minutes.
Cade Klubnik made the play of the game when he connected with Troy Stellato for 16 yards on thirdand-18 to set up Mafah's fourth-down run that moved the chains. Mafah scored three plays later to put the Tigers up for good.
Kentucky had a final chance, but Devin Leary's first-down pass was intercepted by Justin Mascoll.

JACOBS A GAME-DAY DECISION FOR RAIDERS >> Raiders running back Josh Jacobs will be a game-day decision when Las Vegas visits the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.
Jacobs has missed the past two games with a quadriceps injury.

BROWNS WR MOORE HOSPITALIZED OVERNIGHT AFTER CONCUSSION >> Cleveland Browns wide receiver Elijah Moore was hospitalized overnight after suffering a concussion on Thursday night in a playoff-clinching win over the New York Jets.
Moore, who had a touchdown reception in the second quarter, got hurt when his head got slammed facemask first into the turf on a tackle after a 22-yard gain.
The 23-year-old Moore appeared to be knocked unconscious, and after he rolled onto his back, his body began to twitch involuntarily as he laid on the ground. Moore was eventually helped to his feet by team personnel and escorted to the sideline medical tent. He was then taken to the locker room for evaluation and treatment.
Browns coach Kevin Stefanski said Friday that Moore is “doing better.”

BLUE JAYS FINALIZE $15M CONTRACT WITH KINERFALEFA >> Isiah Kiner-Falefa's $15 million, two-year contract with the Toronto Blue Jays was finalized on Friday.
Kiner-Falefa hit .242 with six homers and 37 RBIs in 115 games last season for the New York Yankees, playing 41 games in center, 37 in left, seven in right, 31 at third base and one each at second and shortstop. He also made four mound appearances.
A Gold Glove winner at third with Texas in 2020, Kiner-Falefa has played every position except first base over his six-year big league career.

US OUTLASTS CZECHS IN 4-3 SHOOTOUT WIN AT WORLD JUNIORS >> Isaac Howard scored in the opening goal of the game and added the clincher in a shootout as the United States outlasted Czechia 4-3 at the world junior hockey championship while Sweden posted its third straight shutout with a 2-0 win over Canada.
Howard, a Michigan State sophomore, scored just 1:12 into the game but the Americans were challenged for the first time in three games. It was 1-1 after the first period and Adam Bares' goal 6:23 into the second gave the the Czechs a 2-1 lead and the first deficit of the tournament for the United States.
Will Smith tied things at 2 at 8:04 but Robin Sapousek answered at 11:47 to give Czechia another lead. Ryan Chesley scored less than 3 minutes later to knot things up again.
