Breckenrid­ge’s conference win streak now 24

Have a night Breckenrid­ge On Friday night in front of the home faithful the Breckenrid­ge High School football team rolled to its 24th-straight Mid-state Activities Conference victory as the Huskies shut out visiting Coleman 50-0.

Star running back Cam Valliere returned the opening kickoff 90-yards for a score to make it 6-0 right out of the chute. Quarterbac­k Luke Saunders then hit wide out Cramer Laurenz with the first of what would be three-straight touchdown passes, this one coming from 26-yards out to make it 12-0 at the end of one stanza.

In the second Saunders hit Laurenz with TD passes of 27 and 44 yards before Valliere raced in from 23-yards out to end the first half.

In the second half Valliere added in a 60-yard scoring scamper while Saunders scored from 23-yards out.

Saunders completed 9-of-13 passes for 216 yards and three scores.

Valliere had 158 yards on 17 carries while Saunders finished with 70-yards rushing on six carries. Hemlock 49, St. Louis 0

St. Louis fell in its season opener Friday, falling to Hemlock by a final of 49-0.

The Sharks trailed 21-0 at the end of one quarter and 35-0 at the half.

Quarterbac­k Blake Siefka completed 7-of-22 passes for 66 yards. He was intercepte­d three times.

Trae Garcia had 42-yards rushing on 12 carries while Siefka had 15 yards on the ground.

Cade Pestrue caught four passes for 28 yards while Avante Taylor had two catches for 24 yards. Garcia led the defense with seven tackles.

Clare 45, Shepherd 0 When you turn it over often you usually lose.

Case in point: On Friday night from Veteran’s Memorial Field the Shepherd High School football team turned it over six times and visiting Clare took full advantage as it scored on five of the six turnovers en route to a 45-0 Jack Pine Conference win.

The Pioneers took a 19-0 lead at the half and never looked back.

Beau Weldon had 104-yards rushing on 21 carries and scored for the Pioneers while Jacob Recker went 4-for-13 passing. He also carried it for 14 yards and one score.

Kevin Tanner had a 30yard intercepti­on return

for score while Al Warner returned a pick 80 yards for a TD. Kaleb Brewer added in a 70-yard scoop and score while Aidan Paisley covered a fumble in the end zone for a score. Freshman Jake Punches added in eight tackles and four sacks.

Kaidan Andrews went 8-for-18 passing for Shepherd for 103 yards. He was intercepte­d twice.

Ethan Deming had two catches for 73 yards to pace the wide outs.

Korrbin Gluch had 10 tackles and a fumble recovery to pace the Shepherd D while Maddox Woods had seven tackles and one fumble recovery.
