Fifth-ranked Clare routs Harrison to move to 5-0

On Friday night in front of the home faithful at the Brookwood Athletic Complex the Clare High School football team crushed rival Harrison 49- 0 to improve to 5- 0 on the season.

Moreover, with the win, the fifth-ranked Pioneers also clinch a share of the Jack Pine Conference title.

Quarterbac­k Jacob Recker opened the scoring with a twoyard TD run before hitting Dawson John with scoring passes of 28 and 45 yards.

Alwarner added in a 20-yard TD in the second while Beauweldon had a seven-yard TD tomake it 35- 0 at the half.

Jon Bouchey had a five-yard TD run in the thirdbefor­ereckerhad a 30-yard run in the fourth.

Recker completed 8- of- 14 passes for 191 yards and two TDS. Warner rushed for 112 yards on six carries while Weldon had 84 yards on 13 carries. John had three catches for 108 yards.

Clare outgained Harrison 472132 in the game.

Ethan Vanantwerp­t led Harrison(3-2) with42 yards on the ground.

Breckenrid­ge 46, Burton-bendle 0

The Breckenrid­ge High School football teamposted its third shutout of the season at home Friday when it routed Burton-bendle 46- 0.

The Huskies (4-1) also pitched shutouts in week one and week three with 50- 0 wins over Coleman and St. Charles.

The Huskies took a fourscore lead into the half and never looked back in the contest.

Cam Valliere opened the scoring with a 35-yard TD run in the first before Cramer Laurenz ran in the conversion to make it 8- 0. Later in the frame quarterbac­k Luke Saunders scored on a 45-yard punt return to make it 15- 0 after Drew Cole hit the PAT.

In the second quarter Saunders scored on a 36yard run to make 21- 0 before Valliere hit Ky Eastman with the conversion pass. Garrett Fitzgerald then recorded a safety to close the first-half scoring out at 250.

Valliere added in scoring runs from 11 and 12-yards out in the second half while Saunders returned an intercepti­on67 yards for a touchdown.

For the game Saunders completed 6-of-14 passes for 53 yards. He also ran it four times for 50 yards.

Valliere had 145-yards rushing on 14 carrieswhi­le also reeling in two passes for 25 yards.

Defensivel­y he had six tackles, three of which were for loss. Fitzgerald led the D with 12 tackles.
