Dorothy Jean “Dotty” Ringel, 83, of Mt. Pleasant, peacefully passed away on Friday, December 18, 2020, at the Prestige Centre Senior Assisted Living facility. A public Funeral Mass for Dorothy will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Tuesday, December 22, 2020, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mt. Pleasant, with Father Loren Kalinowski, as celebrant. The family will receive friends one hour prior to mass. A private burial at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery, in Detroit will take place on a later date. Dotty was born January 31, 1937, in Grosse Point Farms, daughter of the late Willard and Dorothea (Marque) Alcorn. Dotty was baptized and graduated High School at the Nativity of our Lord Church in Detroit. The day after graduation, Dotty began full time secretaria­l work at the Chrysler Corporatio­n in the Technical Division for seven years. She married Robert Ringel on May 4, 1957 at the Nativity of our Lord Church and they began their life of 63 years together. She devoted her time after their marriage to being a homemaker and took exceptiona­l care of their three children. Dotty was a people-oriented person that had a smile for everyone and every occasion. Her hobbies included music, the arts, jigsaw/crossword puzzles, sewing and had a love for animals. These interests led Dotty into many employment opportunit­ies, including University of South Florida (Librarian), Busch Gardens (retail in Tampa), Cancer Fund Collector and JC Penny retail. Dorothy is survived by her husband Robert; children, Lee J. (Kristen) Ringel of Freeland, Renée J. Ringel and Daniel P Ringel both of Mt. Pleasant; brother; William (Bill) Alcorn of Sarasota, Fl; grandchild­ren, Matthew Ringel of Helena, Montana and Elizabeth Ringel of Hudsonvill­e; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; maternal grandmothe­r, Rose Marquee; and many relatives from Ohio and Michigan. Memorial contributi­ons may be made to the Pardee Cancer Treatment Fund of Isabella County.
