Hannah Post rolls 300 game, makes MP USBC history
Hannah Post posted perfection.
Just last Sunday Post posted her first-career 300 game while bowling in the Mid-michigan Travel league at The Bowling Alley in Ionia.
With the showing she becomes the second female bowler in Mt. Pleasant USBC history, a history that dates back over 80 years, to roll a certified 300 game. Andrea Barber was the first as she rolled a 300 game at Chippewa Lanes in Mt. Pleasant on Oct. 13, 2007.
For Post the perfect game was a long time coming as she has been bowling since she was just 4-years old.
“It’s something that I have always wanted to do and I have been so close,” said Post, a 2014 Alma High School graduate. “I’ve had two 299s and so many (games) in the 270s and 280s. It’s an honor.”
Post was a standout bowler at Alma High School during her prep days. She won the individual qualifying block at the MHSAA Division 3 state finals as a sophomore before advancing to the quarterfinal round as a junior. As a senior she finished runnerup individually in D3, falling in state-championship match.
Thus, Post has been a very good bowler for a very long time. Yet, she had never achieved perfection until Sunday.
“The first nine frames were perfect,” said Post.
After opening the 10th frame with a pair of strikes Post admits that she did get a bit nervous, but she went through her usual routine and it paid off as she hit another strike to close it out.
“Bowling is a mental game and I just made sure I did everything right,” Post added. “I said, ‘Okay, I got this.’”
For the day bowled a 775 series with games of 237, 300, 238.
