On Saturday, Michigan quoted over 1,000 cases for the sixth consecutive day.

1,289 new cases of coronavirus were reported in Michigan, along with 56 new deaths due to the virus, according to the state’s website.

This brings Michigan, in total, to 598,054 cases and 15,666 deaths statewide.

The fact that Saturday is the sixth consecutive day over 1,000 new cases is due to the fact that Monday’s report was a combined total from Monday and Sunday with 1,569 new cases, an average of 785 new cases per day for both days.

New daily cases continue to be heaviest in the state’s more populated counties.

At least 48 of the 54 new confirmed deaths on Saturday were identified during a vital records review, which are conducted regularly by the state.

Mid-michigan had five new cases but no new deaths in Isabella County, creating 3,598 cases and 78 deaths total in the county.

Gratiot County reported two new cases and one new death, citing 2,472 cases and 100 deaths total.

And in Clare County there were 1,411 cases and 68 deaths, after one new case and no new deaths were reported. Health officials have also been tracking results of statewide testing. So far, 10,621,967 diagnostic tests have been conducted.

The state’s vaccination rate hit 18 percent on Wednesday with 2,303,548 shots of the vaccine administered.

As of Friday, according to Michigan’s website, 2,505,493 vaccines have been administered. Pfizer vaccines make up 1,402,827 of that total, while Moderna vaccines account for 1,102,437.

There also have been 229 Johnson and Johnson vaccines administered in Michigan.

In the Detroit area on Saturday, Wayne County had the most new cases with 180, as well as 11 new deaths, putting the county at 65,650 total cases and 2,087 total deaths.

Oakland County followed with 131 new cases and 11 new deaths, totaling 65,324 cases and 1,908 deaths.
