HATS names new executive director
The Humane Animal Treatment Society has promoted from within in naming its new executive director.
Amanda Tillotson, who was previously the organization’s community involvement coordinator, was announced as its new executive director in a Monday morning news release.
“I am honored and excited to be leading such an important organization in our community,” Tillotson said in the release.
Tillotson grew up in Mt. Pleasant and graduated from Central Michigan University in 2013. She has worked for the animal shelter for the last seven years, holding
down each staff position. For the last three years, she has been responsible for donor relations, community outreach and the volunteer program.
The news release cited her passion for animal welfare and desire to improve as key strengths she brings to the organization.
It’s hard to think about, but just over 10 years ago only about half of all animals entering the Isabella County Animal Shelter were leaving alive,” she said in the press release. “Since HATS has taken over animal care operations, drastic improvements have been made and in 2020 we celebrated another year at no-kill status. I’ve had the privilege of working alongside the dedicated staff and community members that have made this possible, and I’m so proud to be part of this team.
Together, we will continue to grow and set the standard for animal welfare in our community.”
HATS was founded in 1999 and is contracted to operate the Isabella County Animal Shelter. The organization services more than 1,000 animals every year.
