MCCARTHY, JOHNATHAN “JONNY” EARL

Johnathan “Jonny” Earl Mccarthy, age 8, of Edmore passed away unexpected­ly on Monday, April 12, 2021 at his home. He was born in Grand Rapids on July 10, 2012, the son of Michael and Kristine (Newman) Mccarthy. Jonny was raised in the Edmore area and was a third grader at Montabella Community Schools. He brought much love and laughter to his family and everyone he met, a real social butterfly. Jonny was an incredibly happy child, who loved helping people. He was so full of energy and always running or jumping in the ice-cold water to swim in the spring. He loved watching cartoons, music especially “You Are My Sunshine” and “God’s Country” by Blake Shelton, nature, going for walks, hunting, fishing, combines, trucks, and tractors. If it had a steering wheel, he wanted to drive it. He had a strong love of all things John Deere and riding in local parades with his grandpa Mccarthy. Jonny was smart and had a special ability to remember things, like how to put his bike back together after he had torn it apart. He loved the US military and wanted to serve his country one day. When given a choice he would always do the right thing. He was a member of the Greasy Fingers 2-cylinder Tractor Club. Jonny was an extraordin­ary young man and will be missed by everyone whose lives he touched. Jonny is survived by his mom and dad; twin brother, Danial “Danny”; sister, Robin (Randall Judge) Wonsey of Shepherd, brother, Sean (Kristen) Marsh of Florida; bonus brother, Brandon Nedry; grandparen­ts, Charlene and Ken Hubbell, Roger Mccarthy, James Sr. and Candice Newman; aunt, Amy (Dick) Baker and their children, Ryan, Scott and Jason; uncles, Jimmy (Amy) Newman, Jerry (Bonnie) Newman, Gary (Ann) Newman, Christophe­r (Heidi) Hubbell, Kenny (Kim) Hubbell; nieces, Hailey and Aurora Marsh; several cousins; and his hunting dogs, Zoey and Jake. He was preceded in death by his grandmothe­r, Linda Newman; great-grandparen­ts, Earl Mccarthy, Edith (Mccarthy) and Stan Roomsburg; great-aunt, Jane Nesbitt; great-great uncle John Mccarthy; cousin, Kelly Nesbitt; and his dog, Pepper. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Sunday, April 18, 2021 at Brigham Funeral Chapel in Edmore, with Pastor Suzanne Kormos officiatin­g. Interment will follow at Pine River Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Saturday, April 17 from 1:00 – 4:00 PM at the funeral chapel. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make donations are asked to consider the needs of the family.
