On Thursday evening former Central Michigan standout wide out Dallas Dixon declared for the 2023 NFL Draft in Kansas City on April 27-29.

Dixon is the sixth Chippewa to declare for the draft and joins running back Lew Nichols III, wide out Carlos Carriere, defensive lineman Thomas Incoom, tight end Joel Wilson and cornerback Ronald Kent Jr.

Dixon had a big 2021 season, yet was sidelined for the 2022 season in just the second game with a shoulder injury. In 2021 the third-team ALL-MAC selection caught 45 passes for 701 yards and eight touchdowns. He caught at least one pass in all 13 games in 2021. He is currently training in Marquette in the Upper Peninsula to get ready for CMU’S ‘Pro Day’ in early March.

Nichols led the nation in rushing in 2021 as he ran for 1,848 yards and 16 touchdowns en route to Mid-american Conference Offensive Player of the Year honors. He also caught 40 passes for 338 yards and two scores. Last fall the 2020 MAC Freshman of the Year was sidelined with injuries for a good part of the season and played in only nine games, rushing for 616 yards and six scores.

Carriere led the Chippewas at the wide out spot in 2022 as he caught 45 passes for 520 yards and two scores. The Maryland transfer only played one season at CMU. He had a career game at Penn State as he caught 11 passes for 111 yards.

Wilson ranked second nationally amongst tight ends in several statistical categories last fall before getting injured and missing a couple games. He caught 44 passes for 445 yards and six scores.

Incoom earned first-team ALL-MAC honors last fall via dominant seasons. Incoom ranked fourth nationally in sacks (11.5) and seventh nationally in tackles for loss (18.5). He finished with 56 tackles from his defensive line spot.

Kent Jr. had 56 tackles, six tackles for loss and 10 pass break-ups in 2022.
