- Mid-mitten Weather View

The workweek begins with somewhat quiet weather inundating the region. Today and Tuesday are expected to have highs in the mid- to high-30s and lows in the mid- to upper20s. Clouds will be prevalent during this time; however, it’s likely not to be completely overcast for the whole duration of the period.

A weak clipper system will move through the region tonight into Tuesday bringing a chance of snow showers to the region. Any accumulations will be light, under an inch. Winds will be increasing from today into Tuesday with gusts to around 30 mph possible.

Entering Wednesday, a system is expected to traverse the region, potentially bringing snow, ice and sleet to the region. At this point the area looks to start with snow showers across central Michigan during the day on Wednesday.

More impactful conditions are expected Wednesday night through Thursday afternoon as a mix of snow/sleet/ice move into the area. Significant impacts to travel and power outages are possible. Temperatures on Wednesday should hover right around the freezing mark. Winds could also be a hazard with this system with gusty winds around 30 mph possible.

Thursday night could see some lingering snow showers as the system moves out of the region, with highs in the high-20s to low-30s.

This storm moves off to the east Thursday night into Friday to leave behind mostly cloudy skies. Snow showers off the lake are possible, with localized areas of low visibility possible in heavier snow showers. Winds will be light. Expect high temperatures in the mid-20s.

For Saturday, there is a second chance of snow during the day, which could impact driving conditions. This snow moves out of our area by the evening, however, and breezy conditions will bring highs for central Michigan to the low-30s.

On Sunday, this storm system moves south, which will allow for some clearing by the afternoon. Winds remain light and variable, with highs around thirty degrees.
