Jerry D. Paul; age 84 of Shepherd, passed away Monday, March 6, 2023 at Mymichigan Medical Center – Gratiot Comfort Care with family by his side. Jerry was born September 25, 1938 in Pontiac, MI the son of James and Eva (Gullett) Paul. On April 2, 1966 he married Joanne Muirhead (whom he considered his rock). Jerry graduated in 1958 from Avondale High School. He served in the Army for 3 years. He played softball for several years in Shepherd while sponsoring the “Jerry’s Electric” team. He was also an avid golfer for many years where he got the nickname “Twigger.” Jerry’s greatest joy was his family whether it was fishing and hunting with his son and grandsons, and going to Texas, the U.P., and Petoskey to watch their sporting events. He enjoyed sitting around the dinner table after his son and grandson’s got back from hunting and listening to their stories. He looked forward to going for a burger and beer with his good friend Rod and putting a fire in his pole barn stove while his good friend Tim would stop in to visit. Jerry was always a doer and whatever he did was to perfection. He will be missed immensely by his family. Jerry is survived by his wife Joanne; 3 children Brian (Danelle) of Petoskey, Amy (Jeff Vnuk) Paul-snover of The Woodlands, TX, and Brad (Cheri) Paul of Tennessee; 6 grandchildren Cole (Samantha), Gage (Meghan), Jakob, Maxwell, Ryan (Val), and Katie (Eddie); 3 great grandchildren Quincy, J.T., and Beau; sister Marvel (Bob) Reich; sisters-in-law Sandy (Bob) Andrews and Laura Burch; and several nieces and nephews.
