Morning Sun

Winter and spring continue to fight this week

-

Snow occurred overnight and now as we start off the last work week of March, we’ll have to spend our Monday melting the snow away.

Highs will be in the 40s Today and Tuesday under Partly to Mostly Cloudy skies.

More rain and snow is probable on Wednesday as a cold front moves through. We’ll keep an eye on this for any travel impacts, but given that it is passing by during the day this time of year, accumulations should be minor if anything. Here is a look at the rain and snow moving through on Wednesday.

Wednesday night behind this cold front, a cold high pressure will settle in over the top of us Thursday morning, which will set us up for a cold night and morning.

At least lower-20s are on tap, but we could fall into the teens. Yet another system arrives late Thursday and sticks with us through Saturday.

It could be a pretty good soaking rain with at least 1 inch or more, but it may get cold enough later in the day on Saturday to see it change to snow once again before everything comes to an end. Friday should be the warmest day of the week with highs well into the 50s.

Any snow that does fall on Saturday will melt off on Sunday with highs again in the 40s. We are at the time of year where snow can certainly stick and accumulate several inches if it comes down heavy enough, but it does tend to melt rather quickly.

Nighttime snow makers typically have the best chance of seeing snow stick most efficiently since nighttime is the coolest part of any given 24 hour timeframe.

Furthermore, yes, snow can

still be impactful, mainly while it is falling from the sky, since it can reduce visibility and stick to roads while it is coming down if it is falling heavy enough.

As soon as it stops though, it melts pretty quick into a wet road situation since road temperatures are warm from soaking in the March sun angle.

If road crews are out treating roads, that makes it even easier to cleanup roads quickly from late March and early April snow events.
