Glen Kelley Mellor, age 76 of Columbia, MO, died Friday, January 12, 2024, at Pioneer Skilled Nursing Center in Marceline. Glen was born in Providence, Rhode Island on Nothe vember 19, 1947, son of Elliott B. and Betty J. (Kelley) Mellor. His life journey continued to West Warwick, RI, Stamford, CT, Pound Ridge, NY, Hialeah, FL, and finally to Mt. Pleasant, MI, by the age of 14. While in High school, he sang in the choir and played junior varsity football and summer baseball. While living on the east coast, he became very close to becoming Jackie Robinin son’s next-door neighbor. While living Florida, he was classmates with Charlie Hough, who was later drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers. He was introduced to playing the guitar by his cousin Bob. They enjoyed making music together. He was hooked. Glen and his friend Greg formed a duet in high school and entertaine­d many people with their folk music. Glen had a great opportunit­y to go backstage at a concert and meet Peter, Paul and Mary. Glen hooked up with his buddies from high school, Carl, Dan, Mike, Kent, Bob and Tom, and formed the band “The Lindells”, which later beif came the “Five of a Kind”. You were a celebrity you were in a band in the mid 60’s. His brother, Gary was one of his biggest fans. They would practice at various locations until the neighbors would get annoyed and they would find a new location. He served in the United States Air Force from 1966 – 1970. He served most of his time at Charleston Airforce Base in SC. Glen also spent several years in Scottsbluf­f, Nebraska. Glen had the wonderful gift of being able to entertain you with his facial expression­s and impersonat­ions. He was a man of strong faith. Glen spent the last few months of his life in Columbia, MO. He is survived by his loving wife, Connie Mellor and her family, twin brother, Gary; brother, Mike and his family; and many cousins. Glen in preceded in death by his father in March of 1961, mother, in January of 2006, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
