‘FANTASY ISLAND’ HERVÉ RECORDED HIS SLOW SUICIDE!

GIRLFRIEND TELLS ALL ABOUT NIGHT OF HORROR

-

TORMENTED “Fantasy Island” actor Hervé Villechaize made a twisted recording of his own suicide, chillingly documenting his last haunted moments!

In a scene that could have been hatched by a James Bond bad guy, Hervé — pintsized 007 nemesis Nick Nack in 1974’s “The Man with the Golden Gun” — made sure his girlfriend Kathy Self was at his home before disconnecting the phones, hiding the gate keys and sneaking outside in the early morning to pump a bullet into his chest.

He then squeezed off two more shots.

Kathy, now 62, exclusively told The National ENQUIRER how she found 50-year-old Villechaize alive — but bleeding heavily.

“He was in pain, but he was still talking,” she recalled. Kathy located a working portable phone and dialed 911 — but by the time help arrived, the 3-foot-11 star was dead. Shockingly, Hervé left behind an audio recording of the ordeal that captured the “Fantasy Island” star’s final words.

“There was a tape recorder in a potted plant right next to where he fired,” Kathy noted. “He said, ‘Well, I just have to do this, and everything will be fine. Kathy, it’s not your fault, so don’t worry. I love you. OK, I just need to pull this little trigger.’

“Then it goes pop. And he says, ‘Whoa, well, I guess I just have to wait.’ ”

Hervé’s last days have been in the spotlight recently, thanks to the HBO movie “My Dinner with Hervé,” starring Jamie Dornan and Peter Dinklage, inspired by an interview with the French-born star before his September 1993 death.

But Hervé’s tragic end didn’t surprise Kathy, who said,

“His breathing was bad. It was hard for him to move his arms. I had to bathe him and help him dress. He thought of himself as a proud Mustang stallion. But he was now a carousel pony who had to be helped.”
