MILEY MAKES WHOPPING CHARITY DONATIONS!
HANDS OUT $1.6M FOR HOMELESS TEENS, FIRE VICTIMS & MORE
BIGHEARTED Miley Cyrus has donated over $1.6 million to help homeless teens and vulnerable families through her Happy Hippie Foundation, The National ENQUIRER can exclusively reveal!
The pop star and philanthropist — who has been taking to Instagram Live amid the coronavirus outbreak to connect with fans struggling with self-isolation — launched her nonprofit in 2014 to help combat homelessness and support LGBTQ+ youth and others around the world. According to financial records seen by The ENQUIRER, the foundation awarded $1,688,311.50 in grants to a number of charities and causes between
2015 and 2018 — including $361,811.50 to My Friend’s Place, a Los Angeles-based drop-in center for homeless youth where Miley has often visited.
Happy Hippie also provided $200,000 to the Malibu Foundation in partnership with the Boys and Girls Club to aid families left homeless by the Woolsey Fire in November 2018. The “Don’t Call Me Angel” singer,
27, and ex-husband Liam Hemsworth, 30, lost their own multimillion-dollar home in the California blaze, but stayed focused on helping others! Documents prove Happy Hippie has also steered $55,000 to the Zebra Coalition between 2015 and 2018 to help LGBTQ+ youth affected by the Orlando shooting, and $100,000 to Seeds of Peace between 2015 and 2018 to promote youth leadership in conflict zones.
Miley’s charity pot is mostly made up of contributions and grants from unnamed organizations and individuals, including the star herself.
The global icon, who has promoted charitable causes on social media to her millions of followers, has spoken passionately about her foundation.
“I just think I found a purpose to do things. That’s what I wanted to do. That’s what made me happy,” she told Variety. “And that’s what Happy Hippie is about: doing what you do, being happy and not hurting anyone. It gave me meaning in everything!”
