WONDER DRUGS OFFER NEW HOPE

-

DEMENTIA-related medical breakthroughs are rare, but three game-changing medications already promise to do much more than merely mask symptoms! Medical experts say donanemab, lecanemab and remternetug are cuttingedge “diseasemodifying” weapons in the fight against cognitive decline.

All three immunotherapy wonder drugs slow the progress of Alzheimer’s, the most feared form of dementia. Donanemab, administered through an IV drip, removes amyloid plaques clogging the brain — thus slowing mental decline in earlystage Alzheimer’s disease by over 20 percent! Another promising drug, lecanemab, was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration last year under the brand name Leqembi. This IV drip has been shown to slow the progression of early-stage Alzheimer’s by a remarkable 27 percent as it vacuums up toxic amyloid and tau proteins from the brain.

The third medication, remternetug, is poised to push the other two aside — it scored an astonishing 75 percent success rate in clearing amyloid from the brain! And it uses an easy home device for injecting it beneath the skin. “After decades of research, they are the first to improve patients’ lives directly,” says David Thomas of Alzheimer’s Research U.K. Other experts note there are

150 new dementia drugs in the approval pipeline. But geriatric specialist Dr. Elizabeth Landsverk cautions that even with the new drugs, “there is no replacement for human interaction” when dealing with a loved one who is losing it. And she recommends exercise and a plant-based diet as “the ONLY treatment found to decrease the risk of dementia.”
