JENNIFER TAFOYA-MOQUINO (SANTA CLARA)
“I love working on the pots and carrying on my family’s style. It’s a contemporary style touching on the traditional Santa Clara pottery. I gather and process my clay, clay slips and fire outdoors in the traditional ways. All the colors I use I found while hiking or fishing. I etch on the pots after the firing; the painting is the last step. The themes I like to use are animals, plants, nature in general, also I like the Asian art and the symbolism, in some ways, is similar to our culture.”
