SALLYANN PASCHALL (CHEROKEE)
“I am fascinated by patterns, especially those made by arrangements of Cherokee syllabary or perhaps the patterns of an elk tooth dress. And in my studio I have a collection of very strange things that will someday be used in a piece: a raven’s foot, cicada casings, a small sign I found on the street in Taos, dried orchid blossoms and a large pile of rusted things that came out of a 1920s ranch trash dump in Colorado.”
