BREAKING DOWN THE CLASSIFICATION
The two-dimensional art classification includes six divisions with a handful of subcategories.
Paintings/graphics: oil, acrylic, gouache, watercolor, drawings, scratchboard, mixed media and ledger art in both abstract and representational styles
Sandpainting: traditional and contemporary categories featuring artwork created by pouring sand or powdered pigments from minerals or crystals as well as from synthetic or other natural sources
Printmaking: lithographs, woodcuts, etchings, monoprints and monotypes, serigraph/silkscreen, embossed paper, collograph and more
Photography: black-and-white, color, alternative process and digital
Computer-generated Graphics: digitally created or altered works that can be printed
