DOUGAN, DONALD J.

Donald J. Dougan, 90, beloved husband, father and grandfather, of Sarasota FL, passed away on Saturday August 25, 2018 at Sarasota Memorial Hospital after a brief illness, with his wife Ann Bimonte Dougan at his side.

Mr. Dougan was born in New Haven CT on June 16, 1928. He was preceded in death by his father Robert O. Dougan, mother Edna Dalton Dougan, brother Robert, and sister Sandy. He was a resident of the Mt. Carmel section of Hamden for 55 years and was the owner/proprietor of the mainstay Mt. Carmel establishment Don’s Luncheonette for 35 years before retiring to Sarasota FL in 1983. He enjoyed gardening, growing his beautiful orchids, and watching the Boston Red Sox and UCONN Women’s basketball.

He leaves behind his wife of 68 years, Ann Bimonte Dougan of Sarasota, FL and his son Donald Jr., daughter in law Ann Brainard-Dougan and most beloved grandson Zachary Evan Dougan all of Wallingford, CT, as well as many nieces and nephews.

A small family service and blessing was held on August 30. Final arrangements are entrusted to Robert Toale and Son’s Funeral Home - Wiegand Chapel, Sarasota, FL. Interment and will take place in Wallingford, CT at a later date. Contributions can be made in Mr. Dougan’s name, to St Jude’s Children’s hospital or Boys Town.
