AREA PEOPLE OF NOTE
1 Sacred Heart Academy students, named Summa Scholars by the Hartford Archdiocese, honored the teacher they considered most influential to their success. Students presented certificates of recognition to inspirational teachers. Students Arushi Khanna and Meredith McConnell honored religion department chairman and teacher Eric Bradley of East Haven; student Audrey Seyfried honored social studies department chairman and teacher Richard Marino of Branford; student Eunji Lee honored music teacher Vesna Mehinovic of New Haven; student Laura Mocciola honored science teacher Susan Nelson of Wallingford; and students Amy Ziobron and Maia Jakubowski honored Dean of Academic Affairs and science teacher Sibani Sengupta.
1 On Sept. 9, more than 50 people attended a high tea at the Knights of Saint Patrick hall in New Haven that raised more than $2,000 to help defray the costs of the 2019 Greater New Haven Saint Patrick’s Day Parade, which is set for March 10. Participants at the tea included members of the four Associated Irish Societies, as well as Courtney Lundgren Connors, 2019 parade grand marshal.
