PARK GETS FACELIFT

-

The Daytime Gardeners of North Haven received a $250 Rotary Club of North Haven grant for the new xeriscape (low-water) garden near the entrance to Peter’s Rock Park. The garden has plants that are drought tolerant, deer resistant and low maintenance, yet will attract pollinators. Landscape fabric under the small stones will help minimize weed growth and conserve moisture. The plants include cone flowers, yarrow, torch lily or poker plant, yucca, sea thrift, silver mound and Eastern prickly pear cactus. Some of the native cactus have been growing for decades at the Peter’s Rock summit.
