Quinnipiac rallies past Canisius

Colton Bender finished with four hits and drove in the game-winning run in the 10th after Quinnipiac had tied the game with a pair of runs in the ninth inning for a 10-9 win over Canisius on Sunday in Hamden.

Evan Vulgamore had a pair of hits, including a solo home run in the ninth for Quinnipiac (12-16, 7-2 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference), which pulled even with the Golden Griffins atop the conference standings. Andrew Workman tossed 2 1⁄3 scoreless innings in relief to earn the win.

Canisius fell to 13-17 (7-2 MAAC).

Yale 8, Havard 7: At Cambridge, Mass., Tim DeGraw had a two-run single and Griffin Dey drove in the go-ahead run on a sacrifice fly as Yale scored three times in the ninth inning to rally for an Ivy League win.

Ben Gibbs pitched 3 2⁄3 scoreless innings in relief to earn the win. Rohan Handa tossed a scoreless ninth for the save.

DeGraw finished with a pair of hits and four RBIs for Yale (11-16, 5-4 Ivy League), while Dey and

Jake Gerhi had two RBIs apiece. Harvard fell to 16-7 (6-3 Ivy League).

SCSU 6-10, Saint Anselm 11-6: At Waltham, Mass., Tyler Criscuolo and Mike DeMartino had two RBIs apiece in the second game of a Northeast-10 doublheade­r split.

Jim Palmer added three hits for SCSU (12-18, 3-8 NE-10) in the second game. Bentley moved to 9-16, (6-5 NE-10).

New Haven 9-11, Stonehill 15-5: At Easton, Mass., Rob Giovanelli went 4-for-4 with three RBIs in game two of an NE-10 doublehead­er split.

Andrew Garcia added a pair of hits and two RBIs in the game two win for UNH (10-12, 4-4 NE-10). Matt Chamberlai­n had a home and three RBIs in the game one loss.

Stonehill moved to 14-17 (5-6 NE-10).

Saint Joseph’s 7-10, Albertus Magnus 5-7: At New Haven, Elijah Spataj was a combined 4-for-7 with four RBIs as the Falcons dropped both ends of a GNAC doublehead­er.

Albertus fell to 10-11 (3-5 GNAC). Saint Joseph’s improved to 20-6 (6-2 NE-10).

SOFTBALL

Yale 8, Dartmouth 5: At New Haven, Shelby Kennedy, Annie Tarte and Sydney Grobman had two hits apiece to help lead the Bulldogs to an Ivy League win.

Olivia Vinyard added a pair of RBIs for Yale (12-20, 7-5 Ivy League). Dartmouth fell to 6-20 (3-6 Ivy League).

Fairfield 9-4, Quinnipiac 3-1: At Fairfield, Rebecca Drake had a combined three hits and Brighid Douglas had three RBIs in the first game as the Bobcats (11-22, 4-4 MAAC) dropped a pair to the Stags (17-13, 3-3 MAAC).

Saint Anselm 4-8, SCSU 1-0: At Manchester, N.H., Sara Buscetto had a pair of hits and scored the Owls lone run of the day as they dropped both ends of an NE-10 doublehead­er.

SCSU fell to 6-24 (4-12 NE-10). Saint Anselm improved to 21-7 (9-1 NE-10).

New Haven 4-2, Saint Michael’s 1-1: At Colchester, Vt., Mia Iodice struck out eight in 5 2⁄3 innings in relief in the second game of an NE-10 doublehead­er sweep.

Madison Derosia and Vanessa Strohm each had an RBI in the game two win for UNH (17-10, 12-3 NE-10). Mya Case had three RBIs and Ava Fitzmauric­e allowed just one earned run in a complete game win in the first game.

Saint Michael’s fell to

2-18 (1-9 NE-10).

Simmons 6-8, Albertus Magnus 3-3: At New Haven, Jess Stettinger went a combined 3-for-7 with four RBIs as the Falcons dropped both ends of a GNAC doublehead­er.

Albertus fell to 11-11 (0-4 GNAC). Simmons improved to 10-16 (4-0 GNAC).
