Fall Festival, road race to bring traffic changes

EAST HAVEN — The Police Department has issued informatio­n on traffic pattern changes for the town’s Fall Festival, which begins Friday and runs through Sunday. The Community Road Race will be held Saturday.

According to police, detour signs will be in place.

FALL FESTIVAL

Hemingway Avenue (Route 142) between Edward Street and Main Street will be closed to all throughtra­ffic . River Street also will be closed to all throughtra­ffic between Hemingway Avenue and Park Place.

Hemingway Avenue northbound will be closed at the intersecti­on with Dodge Avenue with access for local traffic only.

Please be mindful of the detour signs on Thompson Avenue and Dodge Avenue to access points north and south of the Fall Festival.

Temporary “No Parking Signs” will be in

place on Park Place (east side), River Street (north side), Chidsey Avenue (east side), and Edwards Street (north side). Enforcemen­t will take place during the dates of the Fall Festival.

Handicap parking will be located on Park Place (south bound along Town Green.)

This traffic pattern will be in place during the following dates and times:

Friday, Sept. 6: 5:45 a.m.11 p.m.

Saturday, Sept. 7: 7 a.m.11 p.m.

Sunday, Sept. 8: 8 a.m.6 p.m.

COMMUNITY ROAD RACE

The Community Road Race route is as follows: Start — Main Street/Park Place, south on Hemingway Avenue, east on Edwards Street, south on Chidsey Avenue, south on Prospect Street, west on

Dodge Avenue, south on Roma Street, south on Kenneth

Street, west on Osmond Street, north on Thompson Avenue, west on Tyler Street, north on Gerrish Avenue, east on Main Street, ending at Main Street/ Park Place.

All roads mentioned above and their intersecti­ng streets will be closed during the race.

All roads will open up to traffic once the last runner passes through that particular location along the race route.

Hemingway Avenue will be closed during the race. Northbound traffic on Coe Avenue will be detoured east onto Short Beach Road (Route 142) toward Branford and westbound traffic on Short Beach Road will be detoured south onto Coe Avenue to Silver Sands Road (Route 337) to

New Haven.

Those attempting to get south of Hemingway Avenue/ Short Beach Road can either take Townsend Avenue (New Haven) to South End Road or Alps Road (Branford) to Short Beach Road.

This traffic pattern will be in effect for the road race Sept. 8 between 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
