John Lennon tribute:
‘Imagine 80’ to stream on Oct. 9 birthday
Come together, right now, says Beatles convention producer and Liverpool tour arranger Charles Rosenay of Orange, whose latest Liverpool Productions project is a tribute concert to John Lennon on what would have been his 80th birthday.
The Friday, Oct. 9, concert was in planning for 14 months as a live concert in Fairfield County, said Rosenay in an email exchange — long before COVID-19 pushed so many such events into a virtual space. The 7 p.m. concert, “Remember Lennon: Imagine 80,” likewise will be livestreamed at rememberlennon.com.
Rosenay (who often punctuates his name with !!!) said the show is a speculative representation of a concert that Lennon may have performed had he still been alive and playing for people. It will feature Lennon tribute artists, including Lennon impersonator Scot Arch of “Beatlemania Now,” along with a full backing band to present an evening of Beatles and postBeatles material live in concert.
The set-list features many songs that John never actually played live, Rosenay noted.
While it’s not an in-person event, the streaming platform allows for a preconcert video presentation where entertainers and celebrities, as well as Beatles notables, will be delivering special birthday messages as an opening to the music. And like similar tribute concerts by Sean Lennon and in Cincinnati, it can be accessed far and wide.
Tickets are $19.40 through Thursday, Oct. 1, and $25 after that, via the above website.
