Supporting Comey

-

I have spent the last 25 years working in the law enforcement field, and I support Robin Comey for state representative for the 102nd District.

Police accountability doesn’t mean defunding the police. Robin Comey knows this and believes in providing the police with the necessary resources to execute their jobs with the highest degree of professionalism. She advocates funding for training that will increase officers’ preparedness to deal with an aggressive confrontation. Both police and the public are safer with increased crisis intervention training. Mandatory body cameras provide a mechanism that should work to protect an officer and municipality from meritless lawsuits while at the same time protecting the involved officer’s reputation. Comey supports the funding needed to provide police with cameras so that they can be protected this way.

In addition, Comey supported a new law that will for the first time provide workers’ compensation benefits to police officers, parole officers and firefighters who have been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder after witnessing an unnerving event in the line of duty.

Police and first responders rightfully deserve our respect for their extremely difficult and stressful responsibilities. Robin Comey shares and promotes that respect and will continue to support the Branford Police Department as well as police departments and officers statewide. She will continue to support increased funding for our police and first responders and in so doing will support their safety and the safety of the community. It’s a win for everyone.

Please join me in voting for Robin Comey to represent us in Hartford for another two years.
