Spooky fun at Norwalk Aquarium
The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk is dressing up for Halloween and inviting guests in for spooktacular fun during special evening witching hours Wednesday through Friday, Oct. 28 to 30.
On those three days, the Aquarium will close as normal at 5 p.m. and then reopen
at 5:30 p.m. for a “Halloween Stroll” with special treats, including bonus activities, animal encounters, free popcorn and parting goody bags for children.
“Many normal Halloween traditions are out the window this year, so we’re excited to offer the opportunity for kids and adults to put on their costumes and come out to celebrate in a fun and safe way,” Aquarium spokesman Dave Sigworth said in a news release. Most importantly, there are no tricks involved but there are bags of treats!”
Halloween costumes are encouraged but optional.
COVID-19 masks are required, but face-covering Halloween-costume masks
are not allowed.
While the entire Aquarium will be open and decorated for the holiday, many of its super, natural exhibits will be transformed with family-friendly themes, such as “Sturgeon Graveyard” at the schoolingfish exhibit “80s Flashback” in the Long Island Sound galleries, and “Winter Wonderland” at the seals.
Guests also can meet live creatures and learn about their care during animal encounters and “keeper talks” on the Sea Star stage. Plus, free story times will engage younger ghouls and bats.
Admission is by advance online purchase only for a timed-ticket entry. (This will allow the Aquarium to encourage social distancing by limiting capacity.) Masks are required for all Aquarium guests over the age of 2.
