Cops: 4 injured in 2 shootings on Thanksgiving
NEW HAVEN — Four people were injured in two separate shootings on Thanksgiving, according to police.
The first shooting, which wounded three people, happened around 6 p.m. Thursday; the second happened around 9:30 p.m.
Officers and fire units first responded to multiple 911 calls of gunfire and people shot on Cedar Hill Avenue and Grace Street, Capt. Anthony Duff said.
Callers said one person had been shot in front of a Cedar Hill Avenue home while a second gunshot wound victim was shot in front of a nearby Grace Street home.
The two men were taken to Yale New Haven Hospital by ambulances. Duff said a third gunshot wound victim was dropped off at the hospital in a private vehicle.
Duff said the victims, who suffered non-lifethreatening injuries, were ages 25, 29 and 30.
Hours later, around 9:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to the hospital for a report of another gunshot wound victim being dropped off in a private vehicle.
“Early indications are the shooting may be connected to gunfire reported a short time earlier in the hour in the area of Wilmot Road in the West Rock neighborhood,” Duff said.
He said the 26-year-old New Haven man suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the chest. His vehicle also was hit by bullets.
Investigators canvassed the areas of Wilmot Road, Brookside Avenue, Level Street and Lodge Street, police said.
