Carfora appoints Romans to Police Commission

EAST HAVEN — Dianne Romans, president of the East Haven Food Pantry, will be appointed to fill the seat vacated by Democrat Mark Conte on the Board of Police Commission­ers, Mayor Joe Carfora said. The appointmen­t expires Feb. 1, 2022.

Romans is registered as an unaffiliat­ed voter, Carfora said in a release.

Romans “represents the best of East Haven; a lifelong resident of our town who has committed countless hours to volunteer efforts, including the East Haven Food Pantry,” Carfora said. “Dianne is an accomplish­ed business profession­al with diverse experience over her 30-year career.”

Romans said Friday that she’s looking forward to serving on the commission.

“I’m excited. I’m looking froward to doing some work for my town,” Romans said.

Asked how she came to be on the commission, Romans said, “I was interested. I’ve been interested for awhile.” She said she “started watching the meetings on Zoom and found out through that that the position was open.”

At this point, “I’m just waiting to be sworn-in,” she said.

“I’ve been a lifelong resident of East Haven,” Romans said. “I’m just hoping that I can help anyway that I can and do whatever needs to be done.”

Romans has served as president of the East Haven Food Pantry since

2016. She has worked for AT&T for 20 years and is a senior paralegal there. She also has held executive positions at The Southern New England Telephone Company (SNET), CT Bar & Restaurant Supplies, Tyler Cooper and Alcorn and SBC.
