BRIDGEPORT — Two people are dead and two others wounded after a shooting at a sports bar early Sunday on the city’s East Side.
Police responded to Mango’z Sports Bar on Connecticut Avenue for a report of shots fired around 1 a.m., Bridgeport police Capt. Brian Fitzgerald said.
Officers found three victims, who were treated by emergency medical personnel and taken to Bridgeport Hospital, Fitzgerald said. A fourth person was taken to Bridgeport Hospital in a private vehicle, Fitzgerald said.
Two men, who were 19 and 24 years old, were pronounced dead at the hospital, Fitzgerald said.
The identities of those killed were not immediately released pending autopsies and notification of next of kin, Fitzgerald said.
A 26-year-old man was seriously wounded, Fitzgerald said, but is expected to survive.
A 21-year-old man suffered non-life-threatening gunshot injuries, Fitzgerald said.
Detectives processed the scene at the bar throughout the night.
Officers who initially responded to the scene were met by a “large uncooperative crowd,” Fitzgerald said.
Patrol supervisors requested help from Stratford and Connecticut State Police to help with crowd control at the crime scene and Bridgeport Hospital, Fitzgerald said.
