Fairfield Comedy Club: Comedians say goodbye (and good riddance) to 2020
Why wait for New Year’s Eve to start celebrating? Stand-up comic Christian Finnegan will be featured in a virtual year-end comedy review hosted by comedians Beecher and Joe Gerics, Wednesday, Dec. 30, at 8 p.m.
Beecher and Gerics, cofounders of Fairfield Comedy Club, said this will be a fun way to celebrate that “the decade that was 2020 is finally coming to an end!”
It’s goodbye (and good riddance), or as they phrased it, we’re “putting a lid on this dumpster fire of a year with a review show full of all things 2020 ... but you know ... funny!”
Gerics said the performers will be “Zooming into the show from our homes, just like our audience,” thanks to COVID-19.
“I’ll be looking at the bright side of the pandemic,” he said. “For instance, these days for birthdays, kids have drive-by parties. What an improvement! When I was a kid, drive-bys were shootings!”
Finnegan was an original panelist on VH1’s “Best Week Ever” and portrayed Chad, the only white roommate in the infamous “Mad Real World” sketch on “Chappelle’s Show.” He played Martin on the popular syndicated sitcom “Are We There Yet?” Politics junkies will recognize him from appearances on “Countdown with Keith Olbermann.”
Afixture on Comedy Central, he’s also known for his one-hour stand-up special, “Au Contraire!” as well as appearances on “Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn,” “Conan,” “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” and “The Today Show.”
Finnegan is an animal lover who lives in New York City with his wife, author Kambri Crews. He’s also known for his comedy special, “The Fun Part,” which was released on Netflix.
Since the Dec. 30 show is a
review, it will include a little of everything. Beecher, speaking via email, put it like this:
“You can expect new year’s resolutions, old year’s resolutions, a celebratory toast, a celebratory jam, a celebratory toast and jam, leg pulling, arm pulling, hair pulling, tooth pulling, holiday cheers, holiday jeers, holiday beers, holiday leers, holiday fears, speaking truth to power, speaking lies to power, the silent treatment to power, gift giving, gift returning, gift exchanging, 3 comedians, 2 entertain you, and a partridge locked down in a pear tree.”
