KEEP AN EYE ON

Polley, you’re a thang: Senior Tyler Polley is a full-go after sitting out the Huskies’ last game (on Dec. 20 against Creighton) while finishing up COVID-19 protocol. Polley struggled in UConn’s prior two games against USC and Hartford, but coach Dan Hurley is hoping the 6-foot-9 forward can bounce back and be a much-needed 3-point threat.

“He’s a very important guy,” Hurley said. “I think the time off, hopefully, has been a good reset for him. He gives us some flexibility as a bigger guard and a small-ball four-man, stretch four that can open up the court for James (Bouknight), in particular. It’s very important that we get some offense around James, because I imagine people are going to be very creative with the way that they guard him.”

“Tyler’s a critical guy for us, moving forward.”

Moore than words: Asked about what’s impressed him most about DePaul after its first two games, Hurley responded: “Charlie Moore, it all starts with him. Tremendous point gaurd. He generates a lot of offense and a lot of pace, in terms of getting that ball down the court quickly.”

Hurley added that the Blue Demon are a quick, aggressive team. Romeo Weems, a 6-7 forward who missed DePaul’s season-opener but scored 21 points off the bench in a doubleovertime loss at Providence on Sunday, is “a hard matchup at the four, with his shooting and ability to drive with his right hand.” “Just to win one of these is tough.”
