Beverly D. Shanley, 85, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at MidState Medical Center. She was the wife of the late Richard Allen Shanley, and late second husband, Adrian Scovin, and was a resident at Elim Park Place Independen­t Living.

Mrs. Shanley was born March 19, 1935 in New Haven, the daughter of the late Daniel and Kathryn (Sullivan) Driscoll and spent her childhood in Hamden. She moved to Cheshire with her husband, in 1962 to raise their family. The family spent 6 years in Salisbury, CT 1971-1977, then returned to Cheshire for the remaining years of her life.

As a longtime Cheshire resident, Mrs. Shanley taught elementary education for 25 years at Norton Elementary School.

Mrs. Shanley is survived by her 5 children: Colleen (Shanley) and husband Taz Petersen of Groton, Catherine (Shanley) and husband John Walker of Attleboro, MA, Nan (Shanley) and husband Jay Cunningham of Cheshire, Patricia (Shanley) Troxell of Torrington, and James Shanley and wife, Kristen (Heiligman) of Southingto­n. Mrs. Shanley leaves 13 grandchild­ren, and 2 great grandchild­ren. Over the past few years, Mrs. Shanley was also cared for by Jackie DeFrancesc­o and Kate Rosa, whom the family thanks for their kindness, and care for mom.

Arrangemen­ts – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 4, 2021 at 11:30 am at St. Bridget Church / St Bridget of Sweden Parish, 175 Main St., Cheshire. Friends are asked to meet directly at church. Burial will follow in St. Bridget Cemetery and there are no calling hours. Memorial contributi­ons may be made to the Yale New Haven Hospital Breast Center at Smilow Cancer Hospital, PO Box 208028, New Haven, CT 06520-8028. A celebratio­n of Mrs. Shanley’s life will be planned for the summer. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire is assisting with arrangemen­ts.
