‘When the Snow Flies’:

Explore your artsy side

Have you been wanting to explore your artistic side? Perhaps make it a New Year’s resolution?

If so, here’s a fun, easy way to follow through. Participate in “When the Snow Flies” — a call for artists through Gallery 25 and Creative Arts Studio in New Milford.

Now through Saturday, Jan. 9, Gallery 25 will be giving away canvases, watercolor paper and pastel paper to any visitor who would like to participate in its “Spring Emergence” show, a news release says.

The show’s date hasn’t been announced yet, but you’re welcome to take home a canvas or paper and create whatever you like. Leave your name and number, etc., so Gallery 25 can contact you to be part of its spring exhibit. They’ll let you know the delivery dates to bring in your finished piece.

Gallery 25 welcomes 3D artists and artisans as well. Just stay within the 8-inchby-10-inch size range. All paintings must be framed and wired (they can’t hang saw-toothed hangers) and clearly labeled with your name, address, phone number and email.

All work must be familyfriendly. The canvas is free and there’s no entry fee, the release says. Gallery 25 is closed Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, and closes down for the winter Sunday, Jan. 10.

While picking up your canvas, you can enjoy the current show, “Celebrate.” Sponsored by the New Milford Commission on the Arts, it includes creations by weavers (scarves) and woodturners (bowls, vases), plus everything from paintings and photographs to jewelry, fused glass platters and dishes, pottery and more.
