WALLINGFORD — A once-successful trampoline park on Route 5 was unable to bounce back from the public health restrictions imposed during the start of the coronvirus pandemic and now is on the market for $1.3 million.

Sky Zone, 805 N. Colony Road, never reopened after its closure last spring, said Mark Duclos, a broker with Sentry Commercial in Hartford, which is marketing the property. The 25,316-square-foot building, which is in an industrial zone, was tied up as part of a bankruptcy proceeding until recently, according to Duclos.

California-based Sky Zone has more than 300 location in 12 countries. With the closure of its Wallingford facility, which opened in 2014, its only remaining Connecticut location is in Norwalk. A location in Bethel, which also opened in 2014, closed in September 2019.

Before it became a Sky Zone, the Wallingford facility was used by consecutive building supply companies, according to Duclos. Kamco Supply Corp. was the tenant of the building prior to Sky Zone, and, before that, the building was a Georgia Pacific distribution facility.

The building, which was built in 1958, used to be considerably larger than it is now. A 19,300-squarefoot wing was removed prior to Sky Zone opening in the location, Duclos said.

The property is being marketed to a broad variety of possible tenants, he said.

Joe Mira, chairman of Wallingford’s Economic Development Commission, said the location is attractive for a tenant looking for a high-visibility location.

“It’s a good opportunity for anyone who needs a larger space and a prime location with a heavy traffic pattern,” Mira said. The building is located across Route 5 from Walmart.

Tim Ryan, Wallingford’s economic development specialist, said he’d like to see the space used for recreational purposes.

“Something like an indoor driving range or for soccer or lacrosse, because it has high ceilings,” Ryan said. “There’s not a lot of indoor athletic facilities in this area, so I think it would do well.”

The building has 20-foot ceilings, according to Sentry Commercial’s marketing materials.
