NEW HAVEN — Conspiracy theorist and rightwing radio host Alex Jones visited Yale University Monday afternoon to film a video for his InfoWars website, according to a story and video reported by the Yale Daily News.

According to YDN, Jones stood on High Street as he made claims about the Yale Skull and Bones secret society helping to found the CIA.

The Yale Daily News reported Jones, who brought two bodyguards, drew a crowd of about 20 students critical of his presence on campus.

“Skull and Bones is on record helping found the CIA,” Jones reportedly said in an interview with YDN. “And it really is at the root of some of the corrupt, out-of-control elites in America. The same elites that are trying to avert the American people to class warfare are the ones that opened up China, that are involved in a lot of different types of authoritarianism.”

The Southern Poverty Law Center has called Jones “almost certainly the most prolific conspiracy theorist in contemporary America.”

Jones has made headlines in Connecticut before for repeatedly claiming the Sandy Hook massacre, in which a gunman with a rifle killed 26 people — including 20 first-grade students — in Newtown did not happen. Recently, the

Texas Supreme Court rejected an appeal from Jones to have defamation lawsuits against him from two fathers of child victims dismissed. Sandy Hook families have said they have had to go into hiding or take measures to protect their identities following Jones’ claims about the shootings.
