▶ Local technology teacher, Furahi Achebe of Metropolitan Business Academy in New Haven is one of 50 teachers from the USA and Canada honored by the National Geographic Society and Lindblad Expeditions. Achebe was chosen for the Grosvenor Teacher Fellowship which makes it possible for exemplary educators to embark on a lifechanging voyage to one of the many remote and extraordinary environments the Lindblad fleet explores around the
▶ Stony Creek continues to promote COVID-19 health. Employees of the Orange CT location made signs encouraging individual to stay safe and healthy by doing their part in this pandemic. Stony Creek has two locations in Branford as well as Orange. Tests are available by appointment; however, walk-ins are welcome for all other types of visits.
▶ New Haven Public Schools were recently named the winner of APC’s K-12 IT Makeover Contest, with a $10,000 award in 2020. “New Haven’s submission showed that they were in desperate need of some help,” saidJay Bogosian, Public Sector Channel Director, APC by Schneider Electric. “We’ve had some small schools win the contest before, but we have never had a school department as large as New Haven win the contest before.” New Haven Schools used their $10,000 contest award to purchase eight APC Smart-UPSs with Network Cards. APC Digital Services also is providing EcoStruxure IT software with Monitoring & Dispatch Services as an :extra” above and beyond the award.
