GRAHAM, ELIZABETH

-

Known as “Simmy” to most, Elizabeth P. Graham, age 90, of Woodbridge, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, March 23, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. Born on February 25, 1931 at Saint Raphael Hospital in New Haven, CT, Elizabeth was the daughter of the late Dora (Klempner) and Benjamin Pious. She grew up in New Haven, graduating from Hillhouse High School in 1949 and University of Rochester in 1953, earning a BA in History. Elizabeth taught high school history for several years and then lived her married life as a homemaker. She was the best wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, surrogate mom, and friend anyone could ask for. She is survived by love of her life, her husband Andrew Graham, MD of over 65 years, her beloved children — her son Scott Graham of Scottsdale, AZ, her daughter Cynthia Schilling of Bloomfield, CT, her daughter Alison Graham of Los Angeles, CA, along with her four grandchildren Michael Graham, Karin Graham, and Melissa Graham of Scottsdale, AZ and Tamar Faggen of Los Angeles, CA who meant the world to her, as well as many nieces and nephews, all whom she adored and they her. Elizabeth served as secretary on the Connecticut Ballet board, secretary for the Woodbridge-Bethany League of Women Voters, and was a member of the Woodbridge Garden Club. A loving, caring, nurturing, fun, and funny person who cherished time spent with family and friends. She looked forward to family holidays, especially Passover spending hours delightfully preparing gefilte fish from scratch using whole carp, whitefish, and pike. Elizabeth made her home a haven. She had an impeccable eye for decorating and an elegant sense of style. She loved to travel, garden, and read everything she could, especially The New Yorker and The New York Times, always completing the daily crossword puzzle, in pen. She will be remembered for her kind heart, generous spirit, sharp mind, and her devotion to her husband, family, and friends nationally and internationally. Funeral Services are private. The Robert E. Shure & Son Funeral Home, New Haven is in care of arrangements.
