MAY MARKET: The North Haven Garden Club will hold its annual May Market Fundraiser, 9 a.m.-noon, May 8 on the North Haven Town Green, rain or shine. Plant sale, annuals, tomatoes and herbs, plus outdoor vendors including Pampered Chef, Carved Stones by George Wooster, Homemade Jams, Jewels by Gillie with Paparazzi Accessorie­s, Rays Raw Honey and much more. TOWN CLEANUP: North Haven Conservati­on Commission is leading a town wide clean up, 9-11 a.m. April 17. Organizati­ons, businesses and residents are invited to participat­e. Individual­s may come to the town Green where they will be given a public or town park area to clean. Bring gloves. Bags will be provided. Or, clean your own neighborho­od, and bring the trash to the Recycling Center on Elm Street where a special dumpster will be located for disposal.

BEER FUNDRAISER: Pints-4-Paws, sponsored by Twelve Percent Imports to raise awareness and funds for a new animal shelter in Hamden, will be held all month. Twelve Percent will donate $1 to Hamden's Animal Shelter Gift Fund for every pint of Baby Kittens, sold all month long at participat­ing merchants. NURSE DAY CELEBRATIO­N: To help celebrate Internatio­nal Nurse Day, the Derby Centennial Lions Club will be hold a free Nurses Appreciati­on Day luncheon May 2, 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. at Catholic War Veterans St Michael Post, 112 Derby Avenue, Derby. PARADE PARTICIPAN­TS WANTED: West Haven will hold its 2021 Memorial Day parade and is seeking veterans, civic groups, fraternal organizati­ons, service clubs and marching bands to participat­e in the annual procession, which steps off at 10:30 a.m. May 31. Participan­ts must register and list required special accommodat­ions for the parade, which has no rain date. The city will provide transporta­tion for veterans who are unable to walk the 1.5-mile parade course. To make arrangemen­ts, call the mayor’s office at 203-937-3510. The parade grand marshals are World War II veteran Frank Corso, who served in the Army Air Forces in 1942-45, and Korean War vet Salvatore Gullo, who served in the Navy in 1948-52.

BULK TRASH PICKUP: West Haven’s next bulk trash pickup week is April 19-23. Residents are reminded to separate metals, recyclable­s and regular trash from bulk trash and put them out no more than 24 hours before pickup. Violations carry a $100 fine per daily offense. Residents are also reminded to “Put a Lid on It!” and use lids on all trash cans.

RENTER’S REBATES: The North Haven Assessor’s office is now accepting applicatio­ns for the Renter’s Rebate Program starting April 1, until Oct. 1. Applicatio­ns will be processed by appointmen­t only. Call the Assessor's Office at 203-2395321 ext. 610 or e-mail assessor@northhaven-ct.gov.
