Walter E. Dressler, 86, of East Haven, passed away peacefully at Laurel Woods, Apple Rehab of East Haven on Monday, September 27, 2021. Walter is the husband of the late Elaine Evarts who was the love of his life. He was born in Brooklyn on December 13, 1934 and grew up in the neighborho­ods of Canarsie, son of the late Paul and Barbara Gill Dressler. He was a member of the class of 53’ graduating from Hempstead High School in Long Island. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, stationed in Germany from 1957 to 1959. After returning from his service duty, his parents had relocated to East Haven and he would join them and his father’s painting company, Empire Painting, where he would work as a painter for 40 years, until his retirement. He is survived by a step son, Richard Kasprzycki of East Haven, a grandson, Ryan R. Kasprzycki, a granddaugh­ter Rachel (Tim) Zakresky and two great grandchild­ren, Danica Grace and Colton James Zakresky.He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Jenny (Robert) Stevens. Besides his parents and wife, he was pre-deceased by a brother Paul, who died when he was 12, a sister Barbara Dressler, and a brother-in-law E.T. Evarts, Jr. Walter’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the wonderful staff at Laurel Woods, Apple Rehab of East Haven, especially Roberta on Ashwood. Your compassion­ate care and the love you gave to our Walter will never be forgotten.

Funeral services will be held this Saturday at 11 a.m. in the East Haven Memorial Longobardi – Brennan Funeral Home, 425 Main St., East Haven, 203-467-1708. Burial with military honors will take place at East Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. prior to the services. Memorial contributi­ons may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
