Rita Cammisa

Rita Cammisa, age 90, of Ansonia, peacefully entered into rest on Friday, December 31, 2021 at Lord Chamberlain Nursing Center surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife (66 years) of the late Patrick Joseph Cammisa. Rita was born in New Haven on December 1, 1931, the daughter of the late Rudolph and Alice (Blakeslee) Kollanda. Mrs. Cammisa was a loving mother who dedicated her life to raising her family and supporting family business operations. She was a member of the Elks in St. James City, Florida where she and Patrick spent winter months together, a lifetime member of the HVYC in Shelton where they enjoyed their many close friendships surrounding boating, snowmobiling and many other adventures in travel over the years. Rita also enjoyed tending to her garden and yard, weekly card games with Gino, Lisa, and many family gatherings hosted by Bob and Kathie. She is the beloved mother of Gary Cammisa and his partner Jean Pieper, Robert Cammisa and his wife Kathie, the late Alan Cammisa and Linda Cammisa. She leaves two cherished grandchildren, Robert Cammisa and Brittany Bergstrom (Erik) and her first great-grandchild Bo Alan Bergstrom. Rita also leaves her brothers Clayton Kollanda (Rena), Donald Kollanda (Dorothy) and the late Glenn Kollanda (Georgia), her sister-in-law Kitty Cammisa, the late Joseph Cammisa and many nieces and nephews. A walk-through visitation will be held on Friday, January 7, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Rd., Shelton. Visitors are asked to wear masks and social distance as they walk through, pay their respects, and exit without lingering to ensure all guests can come through the building. Her funeral services will be private for the family on Friday, January 7, 2022. Burial will follow at Mt. St. Peter Cemetery, Derby.
