Sharon Sanders

Sharon Ann Sanders, 74, of Hamden died peacefully on Saturday, January 1, 2022 in Yale New Haven Hospital. She was the loving and devoted wife of Carl Sanders for 48 years.

Sharon was born in Pittsburgh, PA on June 14, 1947, to the late Ellen and John Mulkerin. She was incredibly proud of her Irish heritage, enjoyed listening to music, ceramics classes, and loved everything chocolate. Her favorite pastime was time spent with family and friends. She had a contagious smile and a giant, loving heart and will be incredibly missed by those who knew and loved her.

She was the proud mother of Jennifer (Darren) Salmieri and Brian (Melissa) Sanders, beloved grandmother to Zachary and Emma Sanders and was overjoyed when she welcomed her bonus grandchildren, Josie and Jackson Salmieri into her family. Sharon is also survived by her brother-inlaw Ira (Mary) Sanders, her treasured nieces and nephews Erin (John) Sidaras,

Dan Boylan, Max (Sarah) Sanders, Phoebe Sanders, and Fay Sanders as well as by her great nephew, Daniel Boylan and great nieces, Harper and Stella Sanders. She was predeceased by her beloved and cherished dog, Brandye. Being a loving and wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend was one of Sharon’s greatest gifts to us all.

A funeral service will be held in celebration of Sharon on Saturday, January 15 at 10:30 am in St. Rita’s Church, 1620 Whitney Ave., Hamden, CT.
