- By Ethan Fry

SEYMOUR — Autopsies have confirmed an elderly Manners Avenue couple found dead Tuesday died in a murder-suicide, according to the state's Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

The couple were identified as Bobby and Donna Howell.

Donna Howell died of gunshot wounds to the neck and torso, according to the medical examiner's office. Her cause of death was ruled a homicide.

Bobby Howell died of a gunshot wound to the head, the medical examiner's office said. His death was ruled a suicide.

Relatives gathered outside the couple's home declined to comment Thursday.

They said the family may speak publicly as police determine more information about what led up to the deaths of the husband and wife.

Police said a son of the couple discovered his parents dead inside the yellow raised ranch and called 911 about 10 p.m. Tuesday.

Police said there have been no recent domestic calls made from that address. A firearm was recovered, police said.

Officers met with the male caller who said he drove to the home after he was unable to reach his parents and was concerned. He said when he found them both dead, he called 911.

The investigation is ongoing, with Connecticut State Police Major Crime Squad aiding local police in collecting and processing evidence.

Authorities have since cleared from the scene, a quarter-acre property near the Seymour-Ansonia line.
