* Sikorsky Credit Union recently donated more than 300 items to the Sterling House Food Pantry in Stratford. The Sterling House has served generation­s of children and adults for almost 90 years. Some of their programs include a preschool, after school program, summer day camp, food pantry service and athletics. Sikorsky Credit Union hosted a food drive, and employees donated nonperisha­ble items, such as cereals, canned vegetables, soups, rice, pasta boxes and other items to fill the shelves of the Sterling House Food Pantry. This event was initiated by the Sikorsky Cares Committee to help individual­s and families facing food insecuriti­es in 2022. * Avery Moses of Hamden, assistant director of campus life for fraternity and sorority life at Quinnipiac University, received the Phillipi Award at the Northeast Greek Leadership Associatio­n's (NGLA) annual conference, which was held recently in Baltimore. The Phillipi Award recognizes a fraternity/sorority campus profession­al who has made significan­t contributi­ons to a fraternity/sorority within the Northeast region by advising any governing council.

* Akbar Dar and Clark Hurlburt, representa­tives from the Bethany Lions Club, presented a check for $1,500 to the Amity Middle School 7th graders on March 9. The donation is part of a scholarshi­p program establishe­d by Dar through the Bethany Lions Club, and has been given annually to AMSB students to help provide field trip assistance. This year, the funds will be used to help pay for transporta­tion for students' field trip to the Discovery Zone Adventure Park in Bridgeport.
