-

Mary Ann Messina, 73, of Milford, beloved wife of 52 years to Anthony Messina, Jr., passed away peacefully on April 12, 2022. Born on May 24, 1948 in Port Chester, NY, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Mary Mazzulli.

Mary Ann worked in customs brokerage for many years. In addition to a busy work schedule, she always found time to make her family a priority. Much time was spent traveling to and cheering at her sons’ sporting events, keeping on top of school work, and making sure the family was together for dinner as often as possible.

Mary Ann was active for many years in the Orchard Hills Elementary School PTA. She also co-chaired several large fundraising events for Notre Dame High School in West Haven throughout the mid to late 1990’s.

Mary Ann enjoyed many simple things in life; meeting her friends for lunch, getting her nails done, reading, afternoon espresso at home, time spent with her grandchildren, and especially hosting large family gatherings. Those close to her will always remember her devotion to family and friends, as well as her generous spirit.

In addition to her loving husband, Mary Ann is survived by her children, Anthony R. (Kelly) Messina and John (Sabrina) Messina; her grandchildren, Abigail, Nathan, Vanessa and Julia; her brothers-in-law, Frank Sapione, James Messina, and Peter (Marie) Messina; several nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members. Mary Ann was predeceased by her sister, Angela Sapione and her sister-in-law, Carole Messina.

The family would like to express their gratitude for the exceptional care provided by Smilow Cancer Hospital and The Connecticut Hospice, and to the countless friends and family who provided support throughout Mary Ann’s illness.
