Town, VVA set fireworks beach party
EAST HAVEN – A date for the 20th annual Fireworks/Beach Party Celebration has been set, with the party scheduled to kick off at noon June 25.
The event will be sponsored by the town and the Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 484. Festivities will include a full day of music, food and live entertainment, according to the mayor’s office.
The party will continue until approximately 9:15 p.m., followed by the fireworks show. The rain date for the event is June 27, when it would include limited entertainment along with the fireworks.
This year’s live entertainment lineup is: Wednesday Bowling League from noon to 2 p.m.; Start Me Up (Rolling Stones tribute) from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.; The Name Droppers featuring Bobby T from 5 7 p.m.; and Wanted DOA (Bon Jovi tribute) from 7:30 to 9 p.m.
Food vendors and concessionaires will be available in the immediate area, according to a release, and WPLR will be on scene at the town beach..
Street access to the town beach will be limited starting at 9 a.m.
Roads will also be closed for the party. Cosey Beach Avenue will be closed from the intersection of Second Avenue to Philips Street. Coe Avenue also will be closed from the Bradford Street intersection to the beach.
The Police Department will be posting notices and directing motorists in and around the general vicinity of the town beach, the release read.
The fireworks are presented in a cooperative effort of VVA Chapter 484 and the town, with the majority of funding obtained from private businesses and personal donations.
