June Johnson Granger, of Milford, CT and formerly of Sarasota, FL, died at the age of 90 on Saturday April 23, 2022 at home surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of Robert W. (Bob) Granger, Sr. for 72 years.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her three children Robert,

Jr., his wife Nancy, and grandson, Sean Granger of Hamden; Jennifer and her husband Kevin Kowalyshyn of Lebanon; and Edward, his wife Elizabeth, and granddaugh­ters Avery and Reagan Granger of Milford. She is also survived by her brother Robert and his wife Mary Johnson of West Haven, their children Robert, Christine, and Brian, their spouses, and several great-nieces and nephews. An infant daughter, Tracy, predecease­d her.

June was born on June 18, 1931 in New York City, the daughter of the late Charles A. Johnson and Elsie Pirk Johnson Miller. She attended public schools in West Haven, CT. She worked most of her adult life in local banks, retiring from Shawmut Bank. After retiring, she fulfilled a lifelong dream, graduating cum laude with a B.S. from Southern Connecticu­t State University.

She was active in the Episcopal Church, serving in various capacities in the Diocesan, Deanery, and Parish levels while a member

St. John’s by the Sea in West Haven, later at the Church of the Holy Spirit in West Haven, and as an associate member of All Angels By-The-Sea in Longboat Key, FL.

As newlyweds June joined Bob in Germany where he was stationed with the Army, and they visited France, Italy and Austria.

They traveled extensivel­y around the United States and Canada; in the early days camping with their children and visiting various Civil War battlefiel­ds which was Bob’s avocation. She loved the opera, classical music, and the theater attending each as often as possible.

The family would like to thank the nurses, social workers, aides, and doctors from The Connecticu­t Hospice home care program for their expert care and compassion, as well as friends and neighbors Kathy and Michelle who never hesitated when help was needed.

Family and friends may gather on Monday, May 2, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad St., Milford. A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Peter’s Episcopal Church, 71 River St., Milford (MEET DIRECTLY AT CHURCH). Interment will be private.
