Sr. M. Adrianne DiLonardo (Florence DiLonardo) died peacefully on April 27, 2022 at Sacred Heart Manor, Hamden, CT. She was 88 years old and professed as an Apostle of the Sacred Heart of Jesus for 68 years. Sr. Adrianne, daughter of the late Michael and Caroline (Rosellina) DiLonardo, was born on July 8, 1933 in Pittsburgh, PA. Sr. Adrianne attended Sacred Heart Academy, Hamden, CT as an aspirant and entered the Apostles of the Sacred Heart of Jesus on August 29, 1950. She professed First Vows on August 24, 1953 and Perpetual Vows on August 25, 1958 at Mount Sacred Heart, Hamden, CT.

Sr. Adrianne earned a Bachelor’ degree in Education from Fordham University, New York; a Master’s degree in Administra­tion and Supervisio­n from Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, PA; and a Licentiate in Spirituali­ty from the Teresianum in Rome, Italy.

Sr. Adrianne began her ministry in Catholic education as a teacher at St. Raphael in Bridgeport, CT and St. Joseph in New York City. She later became an elementary school administra­tor in Chicago, IL, CT, and PA. In 1974 she began her formation ministry as Postulant Directress and continued as Novice Directress until 1983 when she became the Superior of Sacred Heart Manor, Hamden, CT. Sr. Adrianne served as Provincial Superior of the United States Province of the Apostles of the Sacred Heart of Jesus from 1986-1995. Upon completion of her time as Provincial, Sr. Adrianne was appointed the Executive Director of Clelian Heights School for Exceptiona­l Children, Greensburg, PA. Sr. Adrianne retired to Sacred Heart Manor in 2016 where she lovingly fulfilled her mission as an Apostle

Adorer.

Sr. Adrianne is survived by her sister Lena DiLonardo; her nieces Linda (Danny) Schlegel, Janet DiLonardo, Catherine (Peter) Cartwright, Philip (Laura) DiLonardo, and nephew Robert (Marie) DiLonardo; grandniece­s and grandnephe­ws all of PA. She is affectiona­tely remembered by her religious family, the Apostles of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and by many colleagues, students and friends. Sr. Adrianne was predecease­d by her brother Savino (the late Catherine) DiLonardo, her sister Toni DiLonardo Cook ( James), and nephew Michael DiLonardo.

The visiting hours will take place on April 29, 2022 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Manor Chapel, 261 Benham St., Hamden, CT. Due to Covid-19 regulation­s, a Mass of Christian Burial, attended by the Sisters only, will be celebrated on April 30, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Manor Chapel followed by burial at All Saints Cemetery, North Haven, CT. Memorial contributi­ons may be made in memory of Sr. Adrianne DiLonardo to Sacred Heart Manor, 261 Benham Street, Hamden, CT 06514. The IOVANNE FUNERAL HOME, INC. is in care of her arrangemen­ts.
